Our Open Die Forging Capabilities
Open die forging is a controlled metal shaping process used to manufacture high-strength forged components with superior mechanical properties. The process involves repeatedly compressing heated metal between open dies until the desired dimensions and shape are achieved.
1. Raw Material Preparation
The process begins with selecting the appropriate metal material based on the application requirements. Common materials include carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and nickel alloys.
2. Heating the Material
The metal workpiece is heated in a forging furnace to a specific temperature that improves ductility and allows the material to deform without cracking.
3. Initial Forging
The heated metal is placed between the upper and lower dies of a forging press or hammer. High compressive force is applied to gradually deform the metal into the desired shape.
4. Shaping and Manipulation
During the forging process, the operator continuously rotates and repositions the workpiece to control metal flow and achieve accurate dimensions.
5. Heat Treatment
After forging, heat treatment processes such as normalizing, annealing, quenching, or tempering may be applied to enhance hardness, toughness, and overall mechanical performance.
6. Machining and Finishing
